One that you couldn’t make up: Kevin Barron, chair of the Standards Committee, broke the Commons code of conduct by taking money for hosting drugs company events in parliament. An investigation by the Standards Commissioner found that Barron sponsored three events for Japanese Pharmaceutical Group to use private dining rooms in the Palace of Westminster and accepted payment for the access. The breach was judged to be “minor” as he donated the cash to charity, so he’ll be allowed to keep his job in charge of sleazy MPs facing their own corruption probes.
